Driftwood Pattern Designs

During one of my university modules, we explored ways of creating work that wasn’t entirely digital and instead focused more on hands-on making. We experimented with dipping, rolling, and blending different materials in black ink to create marks on paper.

While playing around with some driftwood I found on the beach, I came across a unique repeating pattern once the marks were scanned in. Paired with a colour palette inspired by the psychedelic movement, this led to a set of bold, eye-catching patterns that could be used across lots of different formats and designs.

The examples below show how these psychedelic driftwood patterns could be applied to things like surfboards, t-shirts, album covers, and logo designs.
