LUMEN Album Covers

For this project, a client needed a DJ label design for a new drum and bass mix being released on SoundCloud. They wanted the label to include specific context, showing where the mix sat in relation to the rest of their releases, and asked for it to be inspired by the Marvel character Venom. Aside from that, they weren’t entirely sure what they wanted the final outcome to look like, so I explored a range of font choices, colour palettes, and background styles to help establish the direction before refining the final design. I used Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to develop the full concept. The client was really happy with the outcome, and the design is still being used on their SoundCloud page today.
After the positive response to the first design, the client came back and asked for a similar repeated style across four new drum and bass record labels. For these designs, they wanted to keep the same colours, typography, and urban feel, while introducing a strong geometric shape as the main visual element. The repeating geometric patterns were created using driftwood ink marks from a previous project, and once I developed a successful repeating pattern technique, the final outcomes really impressed the client, who was more than happy with the results.
